Alternate Universe Movie Posters

These are so fantastic. The Bill Finger credit on the Joker movie (in 1979!) almost brought a tear to my eye. I'd like to live in the alternate reality where Bill Finger didn't die an unacknowledged alcoholic in '74.

Oliver Munday's Zany Vision for 826DC

The roster of 826 writing center storefronts includes everything from a Time Travel Mart to a Pirate Supply Shop. Adding to that young but grand tradition is the newest location in Washington, D.C. Originally established as Capitol Letters Writing Center in 2008, it was relaunched in October 2010 and now doubles as The Museum of Unnatural History.

To bring the place to life with 826's trademark zaniness, its proprietors enlisted the help of the top notch designer (and occasional GOOD contributor) Oliver Munday. In the following photos, look as Munday manages to use his unique aesthetic voice within 826's existing visual language to create everything from the exterior walls to the packaging of the products on its shelves, with the end results resembling an early-20th-century explorers club.

Hoxton Street Monster Supplies

A real store in actual real existence, the Hoxton Street Monster Supplies stocks top quality goods for everyday monsters, and the monsters in all of us. We Made This took the idea, and executed a perfect old-world apothecary with hand-stuck labels and painted door signs. The most interesting part of this store? Behind a cupboard lies a secret stairway to lead up to a writing school for kids, called Ministry of Stories. The store is actually a fake front for a writing centre where kids aged 8-18 can get one-to-one tuition with professional writers and other volunteers.

Born out of an idea of the 826 literacy project by Dave Eggers, this is one project that is perfect all over, inside and out.
